The Issues

I am running to represent you.

As a life-long resident of Del Mar, I am running for City Council to preserve our community and prepare for our future. I want to give voice to our residents and provide common sense solutions for the many challenges we currently face.

My wife, Lisa, and I have 3 children and 4 grandchildren (#5 is on the way!). I grew up in a very large extended family as the 4th of 6 children with literally hundreds of cousins (the descendants of Col. Ed Fletcher’s 10 children) here in the area.  In fact, we just celebrated our 93rd annual family reunion on the Del Mar beach on the 4th of July.

My family and I are big supporters of the Del Mar Shores Park, the Boys & Girls Club and the San Diego Botanical Gardens where I volunteer.

Having been a victim of the Poinsettia wildfire in Carlsbad and a car break-in in Del Mar, I am particularly concerned about the safety of our residents and neighborhoods.

I care about the issues that effect you.

I also share the concerns of many residents about the proposed rezoning of the 16 acre North Bluff site from low-density residential to high density in order to proceed with an enormous resort complex of 250 rooms, a conference center, restaurants, and more; if this resort is built it will change Del Mar forever, with an enormous increase in traffic and congestion throughout our village!  That is why I support a public vote on this project.  The project would require a zoning change which conflicts with our voter-approved Community Plan.

I am open minded and a good listener who seeks fair, sensible and cost-effective solutions to the issues we face.

I pledge to listen to all points of view and stay in contact with all residents if I am elected. I welcome your insights on my Facebook page.

Together, we can find sensible solutions for all in Del Mar!
